For this SLJ activity, I had to imagine that I am Nelson Mandela imprisoned in Robben Island. I have a journal that I write in and this an entry that I have come up with. (The date is random and sometime when he was in prison).
17 November 1963
Robben Island Prison,
My body aches continuously, day after day from, well, everything. The rock breaking in the quarry daily, has given my hands blisters and my arm's muscles left sore. Lying on the cold, hard, concreted floor in this dark cell with only a straw mat for comfort (if you could call it that), gives me pain in my back and hardly any wanted and needed sleep. I continue to study law by reading books that remind me of being outside in the real and unfair world. My only hope is that one day, things will change and things will be equal among ALL humans, and people like me won't have to suffer what I am now. When I'm out of this horrible place of criminal souls, it won't have been for nothing; at least I hope it will have done something.

SLJ Week 2 Activity 14
Dear Prime Minister Jacinda Arderm,
As PM (Prime Minister) you already take action in so many things nationally and globally, but I have a problem that I would like your help with. Deforestation is happening along with many other global issues (climate change, global warming, etc) and it is endangering, killing and causing many species of animals to go extinct. They need forests to survive, for habitat, food and shelter. Its not just the animals that need trees and plants, humans do too. And not for making fancy and unneeded furniture made from the wood from trees; we need these trees to breathe and have oxygen. Animals are going extinct and we need to stop or find a compromise to deforestation. Some people don't realise what's happening, and they need to know. Thanks,
Kyra

SLJ Week 2 A13
Jessa Rogers was born on the 7th of April 1985 and she received NAIDOC Youth of the Year award on the 9th of July 2010. Here's how I worked out how old Dr Rogers was when she received the award.
1. 2010-1985-the years:
2010
-1985
0025
=25 years.
2. July is the 7th month of the year and April is the 4th month of the year. So 7-4=3.
=3 months
3. The days-9th and 7th, 9-7=2.
=2 days.
Final answer:
=25 years, 3 months and 2 days old.

SLJ Week 1 Activity 12 2020
In the war-torn country of Syria in 2015, Yusra Mardini, her family and many other refugees fled from their destroyed home country. Yusra Mardini was with her sister and 18 other refugees in a lifeboat, and 15 minutes into their journey, the motor broke down. Yusra (being a professional swimmer) and her sister jumped into the water and towed their boat for over 3 hours! She was determined to not let those refugees, her sister and herself drown; and thanks to her courage and perseverance, she succeeded. Unbelievably, she even went to the Rio Olympics in 2016 and competed. She was in the first ever refugee team for the Olympics. She currently lives in Berlin and is training for the Tokyo Olympics this year.
SLJ Week 1 Activity 11
Three treasures that are important to me would have to be my family, my charm bracelet and an old scrapbook. My family are all treasures to me because they support me in so many different ways and love me so much. If I didn't have them, I wouldn't be where I am now and what I've achieved. I have only had my charm bracelet since my birthday last year, and it was a gift from my Uncle. It's a family heirloom and it belonged to my Uncle's mother and has many charms that hold different meanings. When I went to the UK for a year to stay with my Aunty and Uncle's for a bit, we also went to France and my dad and I used the scrapbook to record all of the places we went.

SLJ Week 1 Activity 10 2019
Three things that I learnt, as well as one thing I want to learn from the two videos on the two professional tennis players, Serena and Venus Williams.
Venus Williams:
I learnt that Venus is the no. 5 top earning female athlete. Venus has been credited for pulling off the milestone of Wimbledon becoming the last Grand Slam to grant equal prize money for women, a decade ago. In 2005, Venus won Wimbledon, with the longest women's final.
Serena Williams:
I learnt that Serena has earned over $80 million in her whole career, and has won 23 Grand Slams. Serena also had a baby on the 1st of September 2017. Serena is the top female athlete, with the most pay.
Serena and Venus Williams have both been supporting equal pay rights.
