Art DLO

Once again, I am posting about a DLO that I have done for one of my Main Stars for this term! This one is about an art technique that I learnt last week from Mr Cook, a relieve teacher. Here it is so you can have a try too:

Main Stars DLO

Last week in literacy, Mr Kumar told us to come up with a play. We had to write a script with characters, the plot and the setting and then on Friday we had to perform it to the class. In our group there was Oliver, Hannah, Billie, Seamus, Geordie, Matt and myself and our play was called Killer Coffees. Anyway, for one of my Main Stars I have to make eight DLOs on my learning this term, and I decided to do one on writing scripts/plays. Here it is:

Christmas Recipe

For one of my Main Stars I had to make my favorite Christmas treat and write out the recipe for it so you can make it too. I came up with Stacked Snowmen Cupcakes for this Main Star. The cake mix I used was one from the supermarket, but you can use a different one depending on the variety. The first snowman (as shown in photos) I did wasn't as good as the second one, but luckily I had a little help/tips from my family. Here is the recipe for it!

Stacked Snowmen Cupcakes

1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees conventional or 170 degrees fan forced.
2.  Pour 3 cups of the Edmond sweet muffin mix into a large bowl.
3. Add 3 eggs (size 6).
4. Add 2/3 cup of vegetable/canola oil.
5. Add 1/2 cup of cold water
6. Lightly grease or put cupcake holders into a tray. For this recipe make sure to have 4 large cupcake holders and 2 small cupcake holders.
7. Mix the ingredients together until smooth with no lumps in it.
8. Spoon the mixture into the tray about 3/4 full.
9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. A good way to check that they're done is by sticking a skewer into the middle of the cakes and pull out, if it is clean they are done, if not they still need more time baking.
10. After the cakes have baked and are cooled, start working the white fondant.
11. Take the wrappers off and 'paint' the cupcakes with some jam (it helps the fondant stick to the cakes).
12. Roll out the fondant rather thinly and largely, then drape over the cakes one at a time.
13. When all cakes have been covered with fondant, take a small cocktail skewer and put it through the middle of the first large cake. Next put another large cake on the top of the first cake, making sure that the skewer gets both cakes.
14. Using another skewer, put the small cake onto the other cakes.
15. For the snowman's eyes, use small edible silver balls or similar and stick on using jam or icing pens. Do the same for the three buttons down it's body.
16. For the snowman's nose, chop a tiny piece of carrot and using a spare skewer make a hole on the face and stick the carrot there.
17. The snowman's arms are made from small skewers as well, which are slightly bent/broken to look like real sticks.
18. Repeat from step 10 to get 2 snowmen.

Narrative DLO

As part of my Main Star for this term, I have made 1 of 8 DLOs. This DLO is on a google drawing and is about writing a narrative. There are some examples of narratives on previous posts on my blog.

Halloween Writing

Recently it's been Halloween and during the celebration we had to a 150 words or more of a spooky piece of writing. It took me a while to get a good idea, but eventually I came up with this:
