Dance In Motueka

After school today I am going to be travelling in a car for 3 hours up to Motueka. I am going to Motueka for a day's worth of dance practice. I will be practising exam work, groups, solos, duos and trios for a Showcase Dance Competition that I will be attending in 2019. This competition is not and ordinary as we are going to be spending 8 days on a cruise ship around the Cook Islands.

It's going to be a very busy day from 9 am till around 5:30 pm!

Averages Week 6

This week in maths, Miss Power set us a task of finding an average of a time or number by doing things like shooting goals and running around the field/fitness trail. Caitlyn, Megan and I chose to run the fitness trail once a day. My times went like this:

Monday-41 seconds
Tuesday-35 seconds
Wednesday-37 seconds
Thursday-32 seconds
Friday-31 seconds

To find the average I had to add all the numbers together and divide them by 5 like this:

We divide them by 5 because we did the times over 5 days.

41+35+37+32+31=176
176➗5=35 r1

⅕ is equal to 0.2 so my average is 35.2 seconds to run around the fitness trail.

Ratios on Kebabs!

This week in maths we did an extremely fun and tasty experiment on ratios. Miss Power brought some strawberries, marshmallows, grapes and kebab sticks into class and we did some ratios on kebabs.

What are ratios? Ratios is an area in maths. For example if there were 7 oranges and 6 apples the ratio would be 7:6. This is what ratios look like. Another example could be 17 cats to 23 dogs, and the ratio would be 17:23. Here's a DLO I made to show what we did in our tasty experiment!

Week 5 Reflection Term 4 2018

For the past 5 weeks Totara 2 and 3 have been working on country study.  In week 1, the teachers randomly selected a country for each student to study. The country I got was Austria, which is in Europe. We had a success criteria, with 10 questions in which we had to complete. This is the success criteria.

First of all, I researched all of the information and then put it onto a google slide, which is here:

Next I thought on how I was going to present it. I wanted to do it in the shape and colour of my country's flag, and that's exactly what I did. I printed off all of my information, headings and pictures and now it has turned it to the final product!

I hope we can do country study again as it was extremely fun!

Week 4 Term 4 2018 Reflection

This week, my class was on Team B assembly. We had to present some of the things we have been learning throughout the week/term. We were going to share some country studies and spooky writing but unfortunately the wifi died so we were unable to share some of the country studies. I shared my writing in assembly. It is on my blog if you wish to see it.

All in all other than the wifi incident, our presentation went rather good. Miss Power even gave some of us chocolates for sharing. I wonder what we will be sharing next time in assembly???

This week in maths I've also been reviewing Order Of Operations. This is the same as BEDMAS where you have to follow the rule to solve the equations. Here's one of my Maths Buddy Tasks I did on Order Of Operations:
