Family Fiesta W9 T1 2017

Tonight is the family fiesta where art is displayed, games are played, music and dancing are preformed. At the family fiesta there are great prizes for the arts that are made and displayed during the week.We had to make a sea creature out of recyclables at home or finish it at school. I made a Box Jellyfish out of a plastic bottle, paint, sellotape and streamers. At the fiesta tonight my mum will be on the coffee and cake store and I will be preforming my new Jazz solo-party. Last Friday everyone bought a bottle for the Bottle-O, if you did bring one you get to wear mufti and you get a free ticket for the principal for a day. If you win it, on Monday you get to eat with and in the staff room, buy the morning tea, help Mrs O, wear mufti and take a friend out for lunch!!! I also recreated the family fiesta poster! Here is a Google Drawing displaying my Box Jellyfish along with some facts and my poster!

Numeracy Reflection W9 T1 2017

This week for numeracy I have been doing 3 things. 1 was prototec basic facts that I did for ten minutes before moving onto maths buddy. On Maths Buddy I practiced my With Carrying Multiplication and contracting multiplication, I only need 10% to get to 80% which makes me pasts. My third task was to do a slide teaching a younger person how to do 2x2 multiplication. I also had to screencastify the slide talking the person through it. Here is my DLO's

Literacy Reflection W9 T1

This week for Literacy I have been finishing my Camp Reflection and my Word Work for Week 9. In my Camp reflection I finished my five paragraphs. I think I could put a bit less detail in because 2 of my paragraphs were worth 2-3 paragraphs instead of 1. For my Word Work I did the word origin decoding and my sentences. I think that next week I should try doing the family of words tasks. Also we have been doing study ladder where we did reading tasks. I have completed 17/29 tasks.

Main Star 9 & 10 Reflection T1 2017

For this Main Star I had to make something that shows my family history and display in a family tree. I chose to use google slides. I liked doing this because I got to find out about my family. My Family tree has been displayed on the last slide. Here is my slide:

40 BC Reflection T1 2017

40 BC Reflection T1

Title: Lady Lollipop
Author: Dick-King Smith
Illustrator: Jill Barton
Genre: Fable, Humor

Summary: I liked this book because it was a tale about a princess and a pig, I know it seems weird, but once you read it you'll understand why I liked it because it teaches the spoiled princess how to be patient and use her manners since she is spoiled. I would recommend this book for 8 and under because it teaches young people how to behave. I would give this book 4/5 stars.

40 BC Reflection T1 2017

Title: The land of stories, the enchantress returns.

In this book there are many characters like Alex, Charlotte and Conner Bailey, Dr Bob, Harper, Claudius, Queen Red, the evil queen, the enchantress, queen Trollbella and much more. I would recommend this book for 9-13 years because it is long and has a lot of scary moments but ends with a victory. I would give this book 10/10 stars because I really enjoyed it!

Main Star 8 Reflection T1

For this Main Star I had to clean up my local sports field,  beach or street. I chose to clean up Boddytown because I didn't think there was much rubbish around until I did this small hunt with my brother down the second part of the street. Here is more information:

Main Star 7 Reflection T1

For this Main Star I had to do some baking for a neighbor or friend. Me and my mum made cheese and onion potato bites, we used Panko breadcrumbs, eggs, onions, salt, pepper, the deep fat fryer and potatoes. I liked to do this Main Star because I got to taste test lots of them! Here is my evidence:

Numeracy Reflection W7 T1

For Numeracy this week we have been learning about two digit multiplication. 2 digit multiplication is where you times two digits, for example 31x31=961. These are the steps to work two digit multiplication out:

Step 1. Multiplie the two 1's.
Step 2. Multiplie the bottom 1 and the top ten.
Step 3. Add a zero underneath all of that.
Step 4. Multiplie the bottom 10 and the top 1.
Step 5. Add your numbers together.

I found this a little tricky at the beginning but soon I got the hang of it with help of my friend Ayesha and Mrs Costello.

Here is some pictures:

Literacy Reflection W7 T1 2017

This week for Literacy we created a google drawing with the five W's about Shantytown. The five W's is the words Who, Where, What, When, Why. Next we had to  make an introduction, then we did five-six paragraphs explaining each of the five W's. Me and partner Oliver only did one of the paragraphs since we were away at swimming sports on the second day that we did this. To help do the paragraphs we used SEEC structure, SEEC stands for Statement(S), Explain (E), Examples (E), Conclusion (C).

Also we have been doing some Word Work, I had to pick ten of my spelling words, spell them, find the origin of them, find the definition of them, use them in a sentence, do families of them.

We also have been doing spine poetry, spine poetry is where you pick 4-6 books that make a silly sentence. Here is mine:

Bonus Reflection W5 T1

This week I did a typing test and a Kiwi Kids news test.

For my Typing Test I got 91 % and 27 WPM (Words Per Minute). This is pretty good since it is the start of the year.

Numeracy Reflection W5 T1

This week for numeracy we have been setting our numeracy goals for the start of the year. We have also been doing study ladder and maths buddy since we had no DLO's this week because we were just starting to work in our groups. We used our results to set our goals and find resources.

Here is my Numeracy goals:

Literacy Reflection W5 T1

This week for literacy I have been working on two things, Writing and Word Work.
For Word Work I had to decode ten of my spelling words and put them into a sentence, I also had to find out the origin of the word and families of words. I found this a little bit hard to do the families of words because I didn't know many words that were families to my spelling words.

For Writing I had to choose a topic, I chose my topic about The Break up of Pangaea because I like learning about the world in ancient times. The task was to find resources that we could use to find out information that we put onto this padlet. We also had to do a coggle to order our information. Next we had to have the information in our own words to this Doc. Next week we will be putting our information into a report.

We have also been setting our literacy goals - here is mine:
