Week 2 Reflection Term 4 2018

This week in maths we have been focusing on angles. First we started by looking at all the different types of angles. I have named them and their degrees in the google drawing down below. To measure angles you would use a protractor which is also on the google drawing. Have you measure angles before?

Co-ordinates Drawing

This week we have been focusing on co-ordinates in maths. Co-ordinates is something you use to find places. They usually look something like this: (3,8). As Miss Power likes to remember it you go along the corridor and either up or down the stairs. To practise co-ordinates we played Battleships. Battleships is when you say co-ordinates to try and sink your opponents ships. Today I also started doing a drawing using co-ordinates. I chose Happy Holidays and so far it is going good. I think it looks like a snowman or Santa so far. Have you ever used co-ordinates?

Tell me in the comments below!

Twilight Athletics 2018

Yesterday the whole school went down to Anzac Park at 1:00 pm to compete in the Twilight Athletics that we do every year. First we did the briefing and ground rules, and then at 2:00 pm we went to our first rotation. Each rotation goes for half an hour and everyone finishes at 6:00 pm. This year we were separated into year groups like Year 7 Girls and Year 7 Boys. I was in the Year 7 Girls group and our first rotation was rest. We all lazied around for a while and then at 2:30 pm we went to our 2nd rotation which was Discus. Discus is when you throw a flat round thing that rests on your fingers when you prepare to throw. It is measured in metres and centimetres. My best throw was 8.99 m.

After Discus I headed off to the Shot put to help out as I wasn't able to do anything but Discus and Shot put because of a sprained toe. But anyway I helped out at Shot put with Miss Hines and Mrs Clark until it was my group's go again. When I did my Shot put throw I was 15 cm off the qualifying mark, which means I got 4.85m as my best throw.

In the end Miss Hines dropped me home. I can't wait for next year cause hopefully I won't have sprained toe!
