Book Week 2016

Book Week 2016
This week Grey Main has had Book Week. Book Week is a time when Grey Main has one week full of activities on books. Every day there is something to do at lunch times or before school.

Throughout the week
The first thing you should know is that every day there is a golden ticket to be found, if you find it you get a special prize from our librarian.

While Book Week is happening, you and your class get to decorate your door which gets judged at the end of the school week by our Librarian. My class had the BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

When you go to get a book issued, you get to guess how many book worms are in the jar. If you answer correctly you get to share the whole jar of book worms with your class.

Monday: On Monday there is chalk drawing on the courts. But you can't just draw anything, you have to draw your favorite book character. I drew several different characters, my favorite was the Cat in the Hat.

Tuesday: On Tuesday there was buddy reading. When you are doing buddy reading you read to a smaller kid and they might read to you.

Wednesday: There were no activities on Wednesday apart from the golden ticket search.

Thursday: On Thursday it was Wacky Thursday. When it is Wacky Thursday you need to come to school in you school uniform but with the wackiest creation on top, like: odd socks, odd shoes, wacky hat, weird hair or even your top inside out!

Friday: Today is Book Character Day, on Book Character Day you have to dress up as your favorite Book Character, like: Elsa, Thea Stilton,Geronimo Stilton, Harry Potter etc. Lets see if you can figure out who I dressed up as, it is a he, loves and makes chocolate, lives in a factory, has some Oompa-Loompas, do you know? I'll tell you anyway. I was Mr. Willy Wonka.

I have really loved Book Week for this year and I would like to thank Mrs. Costello ( our Librarian ) for making Book Week so fun!

Here is some pictures!

This is one of our doors. It is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This is the other door that we did, it is the BFG.

This is some buddy reading.

Week 3 Term 3 Reflection Numeracy

Numeracy
For numeracy this week I have been working on my fraction slide which is almost finished and ready to show and teach others. I found it hard to explain how to simplify fractions but I did explain it in the end. While you are simplifying fractions you just need to keep on dividing until you can't divide any more.

Week 3 Term 3 Reflection Olympics

Olympics
This week we have continued to work on our Olympic study's. While I was studying Bonnie Blair I found it difficult to rewrite all of facts on her. The websites I used were trustworthy because they told me the information which was right.

I was really amazed that Bonnie Blair started to skate at fours old and she was really good at it. While I was working I didn't find any new skills but I am sure I will find one next week.

As a part if Olympics we have been studying the ancient and modern Olympics. Here are the similarities and differences.

Week 2 Term 3 Reflection

Olympics
Over this week we have been studying athletes in the New Zealand team. Our task was to find out 3 different athletes ( boy or girl ) and go onto this Olympic Site which we used to find out our information about the athlete we had chosen. When we had got our information we would create a google drawing and put all of the special things about the athlete we had chosen, for example: Date of birth, height, weight, history etc. Your finished google drawing should look a bit like this:

Here is some other ones I did this week and is finished.

I have really enjoyed doing this studying on all of these different athletes. While I was looking for my information on the Olympic site I found it was hard to find all of the information on that site so I searched up a different sight and it told me all about the person I was finding out about. I think my N.S.L ( Next Step Learning ) is to maybe research 3 times before I put it on the resource I am using.
