Camp Reflection

           Fox Glacier Camp
When the bell rang we all got into the cars and started to drive off to Hokitika, we stopped at the park there and had a little play.

As we continued up the road we stopped at Lake Mapourika and when I got in the lake it was freezing cold that I had to get out in about 15 minutes, it was that cold!!! when we had got out of that freezing cold water we continued on our journey.

Then we got to the Kiwi centre in Hari Hari I saw 2 Kiwis, the were both fighting over new pieces of wood and leaves that they had got just as we had arrived, the Kiwis were very cool and a bit funny.
We went on the windy road down to the Top 10 Holiday Park, we had potatoes and some vegetables for tea and some apple crumble for dessert  and then we walked down to see the Glow Worms, I fell into a ditch and tripped over a tree stump, when we got back we all went to bed.

The next morning was the morning for the Glacier walk! We drove to the start of the track and started to walk the rest of the way as we walking to the Glacier we went over a swing bridge that was above a rapid river that was rushing probably from the Glacier we were walking to, when we finally had reached the Glacier we were much warmer than when we were walking on the track because the track was freezing cold!!! It was very cool seeing the Glacier, but it wasn’t cool walking back in that freezing cold weather!

When we got back from Glacier we did some Geocaching around Fox Glacier ( the town ) my team was the 2nd team back from the Geocaching, the first question was very difficult to find, it was underneath a log of wood!

When we got back we went to a swimming pool that belonged to a school near the Top 10 Holiday Park, it wasn’t very warm but it was warm enough to swim in.

When we were all changed into some warm clothes we had some nachos and some tasty meat for tea and this is what I had for dessert: 1 slice of chocolate cake, 1 sugar tart, some fruit salad, 1 block of ice cream, 1 teaspoon of chocolate sprinkles and finally 1 teaspoon of 100’s and 1000’s, and that was delicious after that we all went to bed.

The next morning we all got up to go on 3 more small walks, first we went on a track leading to lake Matheson it was really cool seeing the reflection of the trees and mountains, next we went to a memorial place that had like a telescope but instead of showing the night sky it shows the direction and names of different types mountains. We all had to drive to the last walk that was on our way back to School it was the tree top walk that was on the other side of the lake where I had been sailing before, we climbed about 250 metres upwards, we were very high up from the ground when we were on a wobbly part I hit my head on 1 of the poles it really hurt but I was fine after a bit.

I had the best camp ever I can’t wait for the next. Here is 1 photo of me a and Miss Hines ( 1 of our school teachers that were on camp with us ).By Kyra.

I wrote a reflection on the camp that Mamaku 3 and Room 17 went on together, it was really fun writing it because it felt like I was still on camp and in class doing school work!!!!
