Athletics Reflection W3 T4

On Wednesday Grey Main School had the Twilight Athletics. The Twilight Athletics is a time when the whole school go's to Anzac and competes in events like Discus, Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump, 50 and 80 meter sprints. 

I competed in all of these events from 1:00-6:00, my favorite was High Jump because I got second and it was quite fun but hard to jump over the plastic bar.

For the 80 meter sprint I got 3rd equal with my friend Reagan. In the 50 meter sprint I got second to last because I was quite tired, but that was fine. 

For Long Jump I got 5th or 6th, I'm not quite sure. For Shot Put I got kind of the same score for Long Jump because I'm not the strongest!

For Discus I got in the top ten, this was pretty fun but it was quite hard to keep it flat and flying.

I enjoyed the Twilight Athletics and I can't wait for next year.

Typing Test W3 T4

This week I have been doing a Typing Test, I got 88%. I don't think this was better because I got more reds than blues. Here is my Results:

Kiwi Kids News Reflection W3 T4

This week I have been doing a Kiwi Kids News quiz. I got 80%, this was the same score I got last week. I learnt that Australia got the Netball Constellation cup. Next time I will double check to make sure I get it right.

Topic Reflection W3 T4

For Topic this week I have been studying Water Safety. One of my tasks was to create a DLO on one of the Whakatauki (Proverbs) on Water Safety. I found it hard to explain it because I didn't quite know what Whakatauki meant until now. I chose to do Respecting the power of water.

Numeracy Reflection W3 T4

For Numeracy this week I have been doing maths games on 3D shape nets, I learnt many things about nets and when the net is solid.  My favorite game was a game where the Chromebook showed me a shape in it's net and when it is solid. At the end of this game I got to make my own net.

For my reading follow up, my task was to create a DLO showing one article that had more than one purpose for it. I chose an article from Kiwi Kids News about Roald Dahl being remembered after 100 years. I found it hard to find an article with more than two purposes because there weren't many of them. I found everything else quite easy after I had found it.

Summary: I liked this book because it was quite adventurous and it was pretty quick to read. The main characters of this book were: Grandma Ratrock, Geronimo Stiltonoot, Thea, Bugsy Wugsy, Hercule Poirat and Trap. The problem is that the Tiger Khan steals a precious rock from the mouseum (Museum in mouse talk) called the Stone of fire. I reckon this book would be exciting for 6-9 years.

This week I did a typing test, I think I got a better score than last time because most of my words were blue, not yellow. I like doing typing tests because they help me improve with my speed on typing.

This week I did a kiwi kid's news quiz. I bet my high score which was 80%, this time I got 90%.

Literacy Reflection W2 T4

For literacy this week the three main things I have been doing is my explanation on a special place for my family, my word work and my reading follow ups.

For Word Work I did my spelling words in Alphabetical order. This was a pretty easy task, my NSL (Next Step Learning) would be to do them in backwards order from Z-A.

For my explanation I wrote about The Nelson Market because my Aunty and Uncle live in Nelson, and every time we see them, we go to the market to buy things like Cheeses and Homemade fairies.

For my reading follow up I had to figure out the Author's Purpose in a Kiwi Kids News article. I also did the same thing to three paragraphs that I was given.

Numeracy Reflection W2 T4

For Numeracy this week I have been working on the Position & Orientation slide that me and my buddy have done. This week we finished lot's of slides and are ready to publish it. I found the shapes activity hard because it was hard to do the correct co-ordinates for it.

Summary: I liked this book because there was a lot of friendship during the book. I would give this book 3/5 stars because even though it was quick to read it was a 6-8 year old book.

This afternoon I have been doing some typing. I did the Typing Speed test and my scores were: 23 WPM and I got 89% out of 100%.

Little Gardens Reflection T4 W1

Last term Mamaku planted some of the Little Gardens from New World with our buddy classes. We collected them all and planted them as well. They were starting to sprout before and during the school holidays.Here is a picture of the Little Gardens:
