This week we started reading "The Mine's Afire!" By Thelma Eakin and Susan Battye. We did a comprehension activity to go with it, things like describing the setting of the story, difficult things for people in the story, what my life compares to Tommy's life (he is a character in the book) and what modern conveniences I would miss if I lived in 1896.
