SLJ-A3-Bonus Activity-D4-W1 2017

Summer Learning Journey
Activity 3-Bonus Activity
Day 4
Week 1
2017

Watch three videos of Hakas and rank them 1-3. 1=the best. 3=least favorite. Also tell the reader why you ranked them this way.

1.  Te Iti Kahurangi. I liked this one the most because it was very powerful at the start and the presentation was great.
2. Te Puku O Te Ika. This one was also quite powerful and there was a lot of emotion put into it.
3. Tamatea Arikinui. This is my least favorite because I mainly just liked the other two better than this one.

  1. Hello again Kyra,

You're on fire with these activities, well done e hoa! Thanks for taking the time to rank these three Kapa Haka performances. I particularly like that you've given really thoughtful explanations as to why you've given them the ranking that you have.
Have you ever watched a Kapa Haka performance live? I see that you enjoy dance, so surely there must be some aspects to Kapa Haka that you appreciate?

Kapa Haka, like many other dances in indigenous cultures, is a really efficient way for Māori to pass down information to their younger generations. It also helps solidify cultural practices.
Can you think of any other indigenous cultures that use dance in this way?

Keep up the great work Kyra!

    Jordan.
