SLJ Week 2 Activity 14

Dear Prime Minister Jacinda Arderm,

As PM (Prime Minister) you already take action in so many things nationally and globally, but I have a problem that I would like your help with. Deforestation is happening along with many other global issues (climate change, global warming, etc) and it is endangering, killing and causing many species of animals to go extinct. They need forests to survive, for habitat, food and shelter. Its not just the animals that need trees and plants, humans do too. And not for making fancy and unneeded furniture made from the wood from trees; we need these trees to breathe and have oxygen. Animals are going extinct and we need to stop or find a compromise to deforestation. Some people don't realise what's happening, and they need to know. Thanks,

Kyra

  1. Kia ora Kyra,

This is a very well written letter! I think you have touched on a very important issue, and I am sure Jacinda would be interested in learning more about deforestation. The photos you have included are really good too, I especially love the quote by Malala Yousafzai!

Where did you hear about deforestation? Did you learn about it at School? It seems crazy to me that we will happily cut down trees but not replace them.

I recently discovered a NZ organisation called ‘Trees that count’. They are a charity that helps to plant trees with the donations they receive. I thought this was pretty cool, but you can check out their website if you are interested - https://www.treesthatcount.co.nz/

Thanks for sharing your blog post! I am excited to read more of your posts :)
